Town of Ojai Named Second Best Tennis Town
The smallest town amongst the finalists (with a population of 8,202), Ojai
defeated competitors to become the second best town for tennis in America.
The 2009 contest, sponsored by the United States Tennis Association, is held
every year to find a town that is committed to tennis and its growth in the
community. Winners are determined by a month long online voting by the
general public. The Town of Ojai received $50,000 as second place, which
will be used for communitywide tennis programming and facility enhancement.
Ojai hosts "The Ojai," a four-day amateur tennis tournament that has become
a tradition for the here. This event is one of the oldest amateur tennis
tournaments in the U.S., having been staged annually since 1896. Learn More
