Meet Casper and Friends

The Ojai Valley Inn has long been known for its celebrity visitors. But our very own celebrity residents call the Inn home! Read more about the Inn's fine feathered friends.

"Casper" is our male Australian Cockatoo born in 2001. Our gregarious and affectionate Cockatoo was donated to the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa in 2008.  White Cockatoos, also known as Umbrella Cockatoos, are indigenous to tropical rainforests and islands. There are 21 different species of cockatoo, and they are most commonly found in Australia.Casper loves visiting with children and dogs. He can perform various tricks as well as singing, barking, laughing, blowing kisses, and swinging on his toys. In 2012, Casper was featured in CNTraveler.com, the online home to Condé Nast Traveler magazine, as one of the cutest furry staff members of hotels around the globe!

"Rudy", our beautiful red head female Electus Parrot, was born in 1994. This species originated in Australia, New Guinea, and nearby islands. The Inn was fortunate to adopt her in 1997. She likes to say her name three times and make other noises such as ‘moo' like a cow!

"Annie", our female African Grey Parrot was born in 2000. The Inn has been her home since 2005. Annie is very talented at imitating sounds and enjoys whistling for our guests. The African Grey Parrot is native to the primary and secondary rainforests of West and Central Africa. African Grey Parrots are regarded as one of the most intelligent birds in the world. Rudy and Annie share a special bond together and will be close friends for life.

Stop by our Avian center (across from the Hacienda Shop) and visit with Casper & Friends on your Southern California family vacation to Ojai Valley Inn & Spa! On cooler days, Casper, Rudy and Annie will reside in their heated home and will visit the Avian center weather permitting. We hope you enjoy our Inn pets as much as we do!
