Meet the Team
Mark Greenslit, Director of Golf
Responsible for golf shop operations, golf course maintenance, golf instruction and the membership program, Mr. Greenslit is an award-winning PGA member with nearly three decades of experience managing golf operations.
He most recently served as Head Golf Professional at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa before being promoted to Director of Golf in 1995 at this Southern California golf resort. Mr. Greenslit is also a professional golfer that participated in the 1984 PGA Tour Qualifying School. Prior to that, he was Head Golf Professional at the Lincoln Park Golf Course. Mr. Greenslit attended Ventura College in California for Business Management as well as PGA Schools I, II and III. He has been a PGA Class-A Member since 1990.
Jeff Johnson, Director of Instruction
Responsible for all golf instruction, Mr. Johnson utilizes his three decades of experience as a golf professional to develop instructional events for hotel guests and local golf enthusiasts.
Raised in Ventura, CA, he pulls from a wealth of knowledge working within the golf and local communities when operating and developing the Golf School. Previously he held a position as Assistant Golf Professional at the Buenaventura Golf Course in Ventura, California. He has also served as the Assistant Athletic Director at the Fernald School, University of California Los Angeles, developing and operating the physical education program. Mr. Johnson has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California Los Angeles.
Dr. Joe Parent, Mental Game Expert
Dr. Joe Parent teaches the Sport Psychology segment of the Scanlon Advantage Tennis Academy at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. Regarded as one of the top Mental Game experts in the world, Dr. Parent is co-author with Bill Scanlon of the upcoming book, ZEN TENNIS: The Art of Playing in the Zone. His earlier book, ZEN GOLF: Mastering the Mental Game, is a perennial best-seller.

Jim Catlett, Golf Starter
Jim Catlett's history with the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa dates back to the 1950s, when as a teenager he signed up to caddy at the resort's historic golf course, one of the finest in Southern California. After caddying, Catlett briefly held a variety of positions at the resort - in engineering, food and beverage and as part of the golf course crew - before being appointed Golf Starter in 1968. In this role, over the years he has earned the trust and respect of Ojai Valley Inn golfers by providing personalized service and exceeding their expectations. Many consider him a friend and include him in their golf games today.
In 2013, Jim was named "2013 Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year" by the American Hotel & Lodging Association.
