Accounting

Accounting Administrative Assistant/Full-Time/$16.00 per hour

The Accounting Administrative Assistant provides clerical/secretarial and administrative support for the Chief Finance Officer and Assistant Controller, including opening & distributing mail, typing, computer input, filing, tracing, answering telephones, printing reports, distributing G/L's and P&L's to EOC and managers, maintaining month-end files, contracts, leases and agreements, processing and verify cash management, income audit  (two days a week) and supporting other accounting staff. A successful candidate must have: High school degree or equivalent. One year previous experience in resort or accounting industry. Ability to accurately compute mathematical calculations. Ability to use Windows-based computer systems; Property Management Systems. Proficiency in Excel spreadsheet/Word software. Proficiency in 10-key data entry. Strong organizational skills required. Work without direct daily supervision. Enforce resort's standards, policies, and procedures with all levels of resort staff. Prioritize and organize work assignments. Maintain clear and accurate records for all adjustments posted. Maintain basic service standards of phone etiquette. . A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

 

Culinary

The Oak Line Cook II /Full-Time /$14.00 per hour

The Line Cook 2 assists the culinary team in providing Five Diamond standards of service and cooking to guests while practicing OVI&S policies and procedures. The must successfully plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of cold food production to include, but not limited to cold menu items, cold line specials, displays presentations of cheeses, fruits, salads, dressings, compotes, vegetables, sandwiches and desserts in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications. Direct, train and monitor performance of Pantry Persons. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment. Requirements: Minimum of (2-3) years of experience in an upscale restaurant or hotel fine dining room. This position requires the ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment; proven success in teamwork, innovation and creativity, high personal standards and a strong desire to fulfill guest expectations; flexibility with schedule, training in sanitation and Spanish skills are helpful. Formal culinary training is preferred. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Pastry Line Cook II/Full-Time/ $14.00 per hour

The Pastry Cook assists the culinary team in providing Five Diamond standards of service and cooking to guests while practicing OVI&S policies and procedures. Pastry cooks prepare baked goods and sweets for breakfast, lunch and dinner in restaurant outlets and for group dining events and functions. Responsible for cooking and baking food with attention to cleanliness and sanitation, quality standards and taste, timeliness and cost effectiveness.  Effectively  use and maintain baking equipment in good working order. Requirements: Minimum of (2-3) years of experience in an upscale restaurant or hotel fine dining room. This position requires the ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment; proven success in teamwork, innovation and creativity, high personal standards and a strong desire to fulfill guest expectations; flexibility with schedule, training in sanitation and Spanish skills are helpful. Formal culinary training is preferred. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

 

Engineering 

Engineer I/Full-Time Temporary/$13.50 per hour

The Engineer I assists Engineer's II and III and conducts minor repairs and maintenance on plumbing, physical structure, electrical  fixtures, machinery, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, spa, kitchen and laundry equipment. This candidate must be comfortable using hand, power, electrical, and plumbing tools. They will complete work orders as assigned by supervisor, respond immediately to guest room maintenance requests, respond to emergencies, and perform necessary assignments to ensure guest and employee safety. A successful candidate must have basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, pool care, and hand power tools. Ability to work well with others. Ability to take direction and work unsupervised. Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, be friendly, courteous, and a team player, enjoy working with people; be well-dressed and groomed. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Engineer II/Full-Time/$15.50 per hour

The Engineer II assists Facilities Technician III and conducts minor to intermediate repairs and maintenance on plumbing, physical structure, electrical  fixtures, machinery, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, spa, kitchen and laundry equipment, using hand and power tools, electrician, and plumbing tools. Will complete work orders as assigned by supervisor; respond immediately to guest room maintenance requests, etc.; respond to emergencies; and perform necessary assignments to ensure guest and employee safety. This candidate will also back up loss prevention for emergency situations. A successful candidate must have basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, pool care, and hand power tools. Ability to work well with others. Ability to take direction and work unsupervised. Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, be friendly, courteous, and a team player, enjoy working with people; be well-dressed and groomed. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

 

Purchasing

Storeroom Delivery Clerk/Full-Time/$13.00 per hour

The Purchasing Storeroom/Delivery Clerk is responsible for the safe and timely distribution and pick-up of goods throughout property. Receives, logs and organizes incoming shipments in the Purchasing Warehouse. Loads and unloads items on trucks, carts and other transportation equipment; conducts inventory of items entering and leaving the storeroom. Constantly monitors the physical appearance and organization of the Purchasing Warehouse. Plays an active role in assuring the quality and careful handling of products. Requirements: Minimum one (1) year experience in high volume delivery and storeroom operations or similar experience. Ability to speak, read, and write in English. Ability to fulfill requisitions. Ability to perform basic arithmetic including use of percentages. Experience in maintaining filing system and logs. Valid Driver's License. Strong team player. Ability to work without direct daily supervision. Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays 

Reservations

Reservation Agent /Full-Time /$14.00 per hour

The reservation agent must enjoy making the sale by balancing their savvy sales technique and a gracious warm style of guest service that we demand. They must be comfortable handling high call volume, answering incoming Reservations calls in accordance with AAA Five Diamond standards. They assist guests in customizing their reservations through the Springer Miller System (SMS). They ensure detail accuracy and completeness and book and sell property activities including Spa, Golf, and Food & Beverage. Also contacts guests prior to arrival to ensure completion of the guest experience. Inputs internal reservations. Works cohesively as part of a team in completing tasks such as Next Day Arrival process, reservations booked, assists in running traces and cancellation reports.

Minimum one (1) year reservations, sales or related experience. Requires prior experience handling high phone call volume. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. Ability to perform basic arithmetic. Warm and welcoming demeanor and exceptional phone etiquette. Must have an outgoing personality, be friendly, courteous and enjoy working with people. Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to remain calm and courteous in demanding and difficult customer situations. Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments. Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel). Demonstrate proficient typing skills. Ability to work cohesively as part of a team. Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment. Ability to focus attention to detail. Ability to multi-task. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

 

Retail

Shop Ojai Coordinator/ Full-Time/ $14.00 per hour

The Shop Ojai Coordinator is responsible for processing ecommerce orders via the web admin software; handling phone calls for new orders and/or customer service; processing all orders in POS system; pick and pull items for orders; generate packing slips; packing/shipping and gift wrap for FedEx standards; processing FedEx to go out daily. Must have: Ability to handle cash, credit cards and gift cards with accuracy. Ability to perform basic arithmetic including use of percentages. Ability to use email. Ability to count and record inventory accurately. Ability to prioritize the work for the day/week. Ability to read and effectively write, including maintaining filing system and logs. Ability to operate motor vehicle (for example: retail cart). Ability to lift and move approximately 30 lbs. including setting and storing in overhead areas. Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

 

Rooms

Bellman /Full-Time /$9.00 per hour + Gratuities

The Bell Attendant provides assistance with guest needs, hotel needs and department needs. Provides service to our guests at a consistent level in accordance with the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa standards and regulations. Provides a warm, hospitable greeting and salutation to all guests, realizing that the bell staff creates the first and last impressions of the guest experience. Ensures that all resort guests are oriented to the property professionally and offered services in accordance with their needs. Ensures that all guest items and hotel items are treated with care and respect and that safety is of the utmost importance. Minimum one (1) year previous experience in a customer service role. Valid California Drivers License with a clean driving record. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. Ability to write legibly. Team player. Clear thinker in pressure situations and exercise good judgments. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Front Desk Agent /Full-Time /$14.00 per hour

The Guest Service Agent performs check-ins and check-outs of hotel guests courteously and efficiently. Processes all payments according to established hotel requirements. Provides information to guests and visitors. Efficiently resolves guest issues and handles complaints forwarding to the supervisor or manager on duty when necessary. Minimum one (1) year guest service experience. Ability to accurately compute mathematical calculations. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. Experience in guest relations and resolution. Ability to write legibly. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to multi-task while maintaining a hospitable and professional demeanor. Ability to think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to focus attention to details. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guests and hotel information. Team player. Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Spa

Massage Therapist/On-Call/$ Commission and Gratuity

The Massage Therapist provides professional massage at Spa Ojai, and is involved in the operation of the spa and guest service. They will be highly-trained and qualified in the latest treatments and committed to using the purest products of Spa Ojai. They will join a team that consists of highly educated, passionate and accomplished therapists and masseuses. A successful candidate must possess current state massage therapist license (CAMTC). 500 hours of instruction from an accredited school of massage therapy, or certified by the American Massage Therapy Association. Must possess current professional massage therapist liability insurance. Qualified to perform Swedish and one other type of massage, preferably deep tissue. Must possess good communication skills (both written and oral) and make the guests feel comfortable during treatment. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of all guests and pertinent hotel information. . A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

The Ojai Valley Inn and Spa is recruiting our next General Manager for the beautiful five-diamond luxury resort in southern California! Our people are our most valuable asset and we need a hands-on and visionary leader to be the ambassador for our associates, Ojai community and owners. Our qualified candidate will bring solid experience in resort executive leadership at resorts of similar operational breadth including; spa, golf, pools, tennis, multiple F&B outlets, catering, conference services, club members and at least 250 guest rooms. The right-fit will include extensive experience in project management, hotel renovation, financial business acumen, sales & marketing and proven guest and employee satisfaction at an independent luxury resort environment.   

  • Build and steward brand loyalty and company culture.
  • Plan and direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control resort programs.
  • Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales, training and operational efforts.
  • Prepare budgets, budget expenditures and approve capital expenses.
