Engineering 

 Engineer I

Full-Time

$13.50 per hour

The Engineer I assists Engineer's II and III and conducts minor repairs and maintenance on plumbing, physical structure, electrical  fixtures, machinery, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, spa, kitchen and laundry equipment. This candidate must be comfortable using hand, power, electrical, and plumbing tools. They will complete work orders as assigned by supervisor, respond immediately to guest room maintenance requests, respond to emergencies, and perform necessary assignments to ensure guest and employee safety.

A successful candidate must have basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, pool care, and hand power tools. Ability to work well with others. Ability to take direction and work unsupervised. Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, be friendly, courteous, and a team player, enjoy working with people; be well-dressed and groomed. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Main Pool Supervisor

The Main Pool Supervisor provides direct daily supervision and leadership to the Main pool Staff. This hands-on, energetic individual works collaboratively with the Main Pool Manger in the efficient delivery of the highest standards of five diamond service to our guests. Schedules and delegates duties to the Main Pool staff. Must enjoy working outdoors. Must show a passion for excellence. Interacts/coordinates with all divisions of the resort and recommends best practices and solutions to ensure effectiveness and consistency in guest service and quality. Leads by example, acts as a role model for others, and exhibits the highest levels of professionalism. Acts as a resource for the improvement of the guest experience and future growth and development of the resort.

An ideal candidate must have excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English Language. Minimun 2 years of a Supervisor role in F&B outlet. Excellent people skills. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to work productively with other operating departments. Ability to handle obstacles in a positive and professional manner and to effectively communicate these problems, along with suggested solutions to Manager. Maintain professional appearance, behavior, integrity, and openness to Associates and guests. Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments. Maravilla Host/ess

The Maravilla Host/ess is responsible for providing exemplary service at the Maravilla. This individual acts not only as a Host/ess, but also attends to guest services and the upkeep of cleanliness of the Host Stand and Entrance. With a very high degree of guest contact, the Maravilla Host/ess is ideally positioned to enhance the guest experience and plays an essential role in the resort's goal of exceeding high guest expectations. Remaining constantly aware of both the restaurant and Bar environments, engaging with guests, anticipating their needs and taking initiative to improve their stay will be focus areas for the Maravilla Host/ess.

Spa

Spa Front Desk Lead

$15.00 per hour plus gratuities

The Spa Front Desk Lead is involved in all aspects of the Spa's Operation.  He or she is responsible for providing courteous and efficient guest service from the point of arrival to the Spa through the point of departure, exemplifying the "Welcome and Well Cared For" philosophy.   The Lead is responsible for interviewing potential candidates, establishing and maintaining a training program for all new employees and provides on the job coaching when necessary.  He or she is responsible for handling disciplinary actions, weekly schedules and covering the desks.  These candidates will oversee the spa front desk, guest assistants (male and female) and the wet area.  In addition, inventory and ordering for all 1st floor supplies and ensuring the cleanliness of the entire facility. 

Responsibilities include: Supervision of Spa Front Desk. Quality Control of Spa Arrival/Departure/Tours/Guest Experience. Create weekly schedule and update as needed. Coordinate all sick calls and no shows to insure appropriate coverage of the desks, covering shifts when necessary. Maintain first floor/guest area supplies through our Purchasing Inventory System, Adaco. Coordinate monthly inventory. Prepare and deliver Spa Front Desk Performance Evaluations. Establish and maintain an effective training program. Ensure 5 diamond standards are trained and upheld. Discipline and review staff as needed. Coordinate and lead monthly front desk staff meetings. Monitor OT and meal breaks. Assist in Interviewing/hiring of front desk staff Set a positive example for all employees to follow. Enforce OVI&S policies and procedures as set forth by management and keep employees informed of such policies. Oversee all maintenance of the first floor of the Spa.  Perform a weekly inspection of the Spa and report any maintenance issues to Engineering. Handle Guest Recoveries insuring complete guest satisfaction. Report any Spa Housekeeping department issues to Lead on Duty and/or Housekeeping Management if reoccurring. Oversee amenity program for day guests. Coordinate Spa Front Desk Sales Incentive Program.

Massage Therapist

The Massage Therapist provides professional massage at Spa Ojai, and is involved in the operation of the spa and guest service. They will be highly-trained and qualified in the latest treatments and committed to using the purest products of Spa Ojai. They will join a team that consists of highly educated, passionate and accomplished therapists and masseuses.

A successful candidate must possess current state massage therapist license. 500 hours of instruction from an accredited school of massage therapy, or certified by the American Massage Therapy Association. Must possess current professional massage therapist liability insurance. Qualified to perform Swedish and one other type of massage, preferably deep tissue. Must possess good communication skills (both written and oral) and make the guests feel comfortable during treatment. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of all guests and pertinent hotel information. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Nail Technician

Part-Time

$8.00 per hour + Commission

A successful candidate will provide professional services and nail treatments. They must be qualified to perform all aspects of nail care (standard manicures, French manicures, tips & wraps, nail repair, pedicures, foot/hand massage, paraffin treatments) using current techniques. They require CA cosmetology license or manicurist license. Must have professional appearance, be friendly, courteous, dedicated, organized, meticulous, and be team player. Excellent communication skills and a flexible schedule are required. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Leadership Positions

General Manager for Maravilla and Resort Sommelier

The Ojai Valley Inn and Spa is seeking a General Manager for Maravilla our signature restaurant. Prime steaks, chops and the freshest seafood are highlighted on our dining menu. Maravilla features garden-grown and handmade ingredients complementing the dramatic surrounding scenery. Our award winning wine list and professional and knowledgeable service staff complete an Ojai dining experience that will exceed expectations.

Requirements:

The General Manager of Maravilla will develop and maintain an elegantly appointed environment with superior and dedicated staff focused on providing a distinctive dining experience to all guests. This position will lead Maravilla staff in providing five-diamond guest service by setting the example of gracious and friendly yet unobtrusive guest interactions. Candidates must have three years of fine dining management experience. Maravilla boasts a Wine Spectator "Best of Excellence Award" and this position requires expert knowledge of wines and spirits, sommelier background preferred. The Maravilla General Manager will lead all aspects of the outlet operation including outstanding service delivery, food cost control, hiring and labor management, pristine outlet maintenance, product merchandising and accounting. Special event experience required, such as hosting winemakers dinners, special occasion celebrations and experience with large private dinner parties in fine-dining. On a daily basis the General Manager will control reservations and the overall seating flow of the restaurant; ensure the correct and consistent service techniques are demonstrated by all staff members; anticipate all needed supplies and assure their availability; observe daily conditions of physical facilities and equipment in the restaurant. This position reports to the Food and Beverage Director and coordinates daily with the Executive Chef to discuss menus, marketing strategies and guest feedback. The Maravilla General Manager must act with ownership and attention to detail in all aspects of their outlet management style and uphold our Ojai Valley Inn and Spa mission, values, culture and service standards at all times.

Director of Activities

The Director of Activities will manage, coordinate, and improve upon the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa's year-round Camp Oak, overall guest activities, and arts and leisure events. This position will be afforded the opportunity to develop and implement programs, activities, and traditions that embody OVI&S history and authentic cultural experiences utilizing resort and community programs/resources.  Ensure a comprehensive educational and activity filled programs are offered consistently, adjusting to the needs of our guests, the abilities of our staff and parameters of our facilities.  Implement learning and performance improvement strategies that support OVI&S strategic direction; promote continuous learning culture through leading, managing and motivating a diverse staff. Develop staff training in the areas of: children's program, five-diamond service, and profitable avenues to promote activities within the resort to include the arts and leisure program.  Responsible for the fiscal management and profitability of departmental budgets.
