Engineering 

Engineer I/Full-Time Temporary/$13.50 per hour

The Engineer I assists Engineer's II and III and conducts minor repairs and maintenance on plumbing, physical structure, electrical  fixtures, machinery, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, spa, kitchen and laundry equipment. This candidate must be comfortable using hand, power, electrical, and plumbing tools. They will complete work orders as assigned by supervisor, respond immediately to guest room maintenance requests, respond to emergencies, and perform necessary assignments to ensure guest and employee safety. A successful candidate must have basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, pool care, and hand power tools. Ability to work well with others. Ability to take direction and work unsupervised. Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, be friendly, courteous, and a team player, enjoy working with people; be well-dressed and groomed. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Engineer II/Full-Time/$15.50 per hour

The Engineer II assists Facilities Technician III and conducts minor to intermediate repairs and maintenance on plumbing, physical structure, electrical  fixtures, machinery, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, spa, kitchen and laundry equipment, using hand and power tools, electrician, and plumbing tools. Will complete work orders as assigned by supervisor; respond immediately to guest room maintenance requests, etc.; respond to emergencies; and perform necessary assignments to ensure guest and employee safety. This candidate will also back up loss prevention for emergency situations. A successful candidate must have basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, pool care, and hand power tools. Ability to work well with others. Ability to take direction and work unsupervised. Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, be friendly, courteous, and a team player, enjoy working with people; be well-dressed and groomed. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

 

Food and Beverage

Cafe Verde Server /Part-Time /$9.00 per hour + Gratuities

Must be at least 21 years and have previous serving experience. Able to stand for 8 hour shift and transport 35+ lbs. Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, be friendly, courteous, and a team player, enjoy working with people; be well-dressed and groomed. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Cafe Verde Pool Attendant/Part-Time/ $9.00 per hour + Gratuities

Minimum one (1) year of food bussing experience, preferably in the hotel industry. Must have ability to lift 15-45 lbs and stand for a 6-8 hour shift. Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, and be a team player. Must have ability to read, write, and speak in English. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.  

The Oak Service Bartender/Part-Time/$9.00 per hour + Gratuities

Candidate must be 21 years or older. Minimum 1 year of bartending experience, preferably in the hotel industry and or an upscale establishment. Must have ability to lift 15-45 lbs and stand for a 6-8 hour shift.  Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, be friendly, courteous, and a team player, enjoy working with people; be well-dressed and groomed. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Loss Prevention

Loss Prevention Coordinator/Full-Time/ $15.00-$18.00 per hour

The Loss Prevention Coordinator provides a safe environment for guests and employees. They minimize opportunities for loss and damage and act to deter any agent or element from jeopardizing persons or property in or about the resort. Respond to all emergency calls. Write detailed incident reports on incidents, which occur, on property. In addition, provides the coordination of all loss prevention calls and incidents with a focus on lost and found as well as communication with insurance carriers. Provide specific administrative and clerical support to the Director of Loss Prevention and the Loss Prevention team. Must be detail-oriented and possess good judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality of incidents and work in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Requires a responsible, motivated self-starter capable of completing required tasks with limited supervision and possess a strong sense of customer service. Strong administrative and office skills a must. Experience with lost & found procedures, lock and key systems and coordinating safety, health and work safety meetings and agendas desired. Minimum one (1) year of similar experience, preferably in the hotel industry. Ability to use Windows-based computer systems; Property Management Systems. Proficiency in Excel spreadsheet/Word software. Proficiency in 10-key data entry. Strong organizational skills required. Work without direct daily supervision. Must possess excellent people skills, professional appearance, and be a team player. Must have ability to read, write, and speak in English. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.

 

Retail

Retail Associate/ Full-Time/ $11.00 per hour  

The Retail Associate is responsible for guest experience in the retail outlet: stocking, cleaning all shelves and fixtures/furniture, and all guests' shopping experience. They have high guest contact (in person or on the phone) and successful candidate requires a love of giving superior service, using a pleasant and calm voice with perfect diction, and 5 diamond standards adhered to. Must have: Ability to handle cash, credit cards and gift cards with accuracy. Ability to perform basic arithmetic including use of percentages. Ability to use email. Ability to count and record inventory accurately. Ability to prioritize the work for the day/week. Ability to read and effectively write, including maintaining filing system and logs. Ability to operate motor vehicle (for example: retail cart). Ability to lift and move approximately 30 lbs. including setting and storing in overhead areas. Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Shop Ojai Coordinator/ Full-Time/ $14.00 per hour

The Shop Ojai Coordinator is responsible for processing ecommerce orders via the web admin software; handling phone calls for new orders and/or customer service; processing all orders in POS system; pick and pull items for orders; generate packing slips; packing/shipping and gift wrap for FedEx standards; processing FedEx to go out daily. Must have: Ability to handle cash, credit cards and gift cards with accuracy. Ability to perform basic arithmetic including use of percentages. Ability to use email. Ability to count and record inventory accurately. Ability to prioritize the work for the day/week. Ability to read and effectively write, including maintaining filing system and logs. Rooms

 Bellman /Full-Time /$9.00 per hour + Gratuities

The Bell Attendant provides assistance with guest needs, hotel needs and department needs. Provides service to our guests at a consistent level in accordance with the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa standards and regulations. Provides a warm, hospitable greeting and salutation to all guests, realizing that the bell staff creates the first and last impressions of the guest experience. Ensures that all resort guests are oriented to the property professionally and offered services in accordance with their needs. Ensures that all guest items and hotel items are treated with care and respect and that safety is of the utmost importance. Minimum one (1) year previous experience in a customer service role. Valid California Drivers License with a clean driving record. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. Ability to write legibly. Team player. Clear thinker in pressure situations and exercise good judgments. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Front Desk Agent /Full-Time /$14.00 per hour

The Guest Service Agent performs check-ins and check-outs of hotel guests courteously and efficiently. Processes all payments according to established hotel requirements. Provides information to guests and visitors. Efficiently resolves guest issues and handles complaints forwarding to the supervisor or manager on duty when necessary. Minimum one (1) year guest service experience. Ability to accurately compute mathematical calculations. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. Experience in guest relations and resolution. Ability to write legibly. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to multi-task while maintaining a hospitable and professional demeanor. Ability to think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to focus attention to details. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guests and hotel information. Team player. Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

PBX Agent/Full-Time/$12.00 per hour

The PBX  Operator provides prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all incoming calls and assistance for outgoing calls. Plays an integral role in dispatching emergency situations (i.e. fire, medical, power/system failure) by contacting the designated personnel for immediate assistance.  This position provides communication and support for every department in the hotel. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language, using correct grammar. Ability to write legibly. Must have a clear and articulate tone of voice; must be courteous and gracious and convey warmth through tone of voice. Ability to be a clear thinker and remain calm in an emergency situation. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

 

 

Leadership Positions

Chef de Cuisine for The Oak/Full-Time/DOE

Our next Chef de Cuisine at The Oak will have the opportunity to put their signature on our five-diamond resort. The Oak menu is classic American fare including Chef specialties featuring local & regional ingredients.

Executive Chef/Full-Time/DOE

Our qualified candidate will bring solid experience in menu redesign, outlet repositioning, food cost control and extensive kitchen management. The right fit will include hands-on technique in California cuisine at a luxury level multi-outlet resort operation with multiple meal periods, in-room dining, banquets and diverse seasonal offerings. 

Director of Safety & Loss Prevention/Full-Time /DOE

Our Director of Safety & Loss Prevention is the lead of our first responders, the Loss Prevention (LP) department, in managing claims. LP staff must respond effectively, timely and with a service-oriented demeanor to onsite injury, workers comp and lost & found claims. This critical role provides Safety and Loss Prevention leadership, best practices and support to all of OVIS. The qualified candidate must have at least (5) five years' experience in risk management, loss prevention or security with an upper-upscale or luxury resort hospitality property that had spa, golf, multiple pools and over 150 rooms onsite. General Manager/Full-Time/DOE

 

The Ojai Valley Inn and Spa is recruiting our next General Manager for the beautiful five-diamond luxury resort in southern California! Our people are our most valuable asset and we need a hands-on and visionary leader to be the ambassador for our associates, Ojai community and owners. Our qualified candidate will bring solid experience in resort executive leadership at resorts of similar operational breadth including; spa, golf, pools, tennis, multiple F&B outlets, catering, conference services, club members and at least 250 guest rooms. The right-fit will include extensive experience in project management, hotel renovation, financial business acumen, sales & marketing and proven guest and employee satisfaction at an independent luxury resort environment.   

  • Build and steward brand loyalty and company culture.
  • Plan and direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control resort programs.
  • Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales, training and operational efforts.
  • Prepare budgets, budget expenditures and approve capital expenses.
