The Line Cook assists the culinary team in providing Five Diamond standards of service and cooking to guests while practicing OVI&S policies and procedures. Encourages staff growth and development. Endorses Jimmy's Pub as a casual setting with exemplary service, food and beverage offerings. Bell Captain

Minimum one (1) year previous experience in a similar position at a Hotel/Resort preferred. Candidate must act as a liaison between the Guest Services Manager and the Front Door Supervisors and the bell staff. Works closely with the Guest Services Manager to carry out both guest service improvements and assist in creating a positive and supportive work environment. Directly responsible for overseeing the front door supervisors and bell staff, assisting with the day to day operation of the department including the greeting of guests and the execution of guest requests, upkeep and condition of company equipment, and development of front door supervisors and bell staff. Chef de Cuisine

The Chef de Cuisine is responsible for management and day to day operations of Oak Grill, support of Ojai Valley Inn and Spa Mission, Vision and Service Standards; including profitable financial management, effective leadership, excellent customer service skills, and supervision of department requirements and standards. Accountable for managing all aspects of Oak Grill including but not limited to: training, supervision and scheduling of all line associates, execution of all menu items, ordering, proper storage, organization and inventory of all products, training and implementation of all sanitation procedures, as directed by the Executive Chef. Assist Executive Chef with developing menu items and standardized recipes while managing food and labor costs as well as assisting Executive Chef and Resort Chef upon request with any departmental initiatives. Chef de Cuisine performs additional duties as assigned that may be outside of the normal scope of duties based on business needs.

The Ojai Valley Inn and Spa is seeking an Executive Chef to be part of the Food and Beverage leadership team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisions for the Food and Beverage operation within the Resort. The Executive Chef ensures the smooth running of the culinary department, maintaining the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa quality of product and service to four restaurants including our signature restaurant Maravilla, Banquet kitchen, In Room Dining kitchen and two pool outlets. The Executive Chef will oversee all aspects of the culinary operation including menu planning, food costs, banquet events, recruitment, retention and development of chefs within the culinary department.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of five years as Executive Chef and proven track record of success in a top rated luxury hotel/resort environment. This individual should possess creativity, innovation for the Farm to Table movement. In addition, the ability to provide both guidance and strong leadership to others, combined with a fiscally responsible approach and strong work ethic.  Must possess high quality of standards, be a strong leader, communicator and trainer.

Operations Controller

Responsible for daily supervision and management of Accounting Department through the supervision of  the Accounting Managers.  Monitor and mentor inter-departmental communications, insuring that positive messages are being sent from all accounting staff to external departments when dealing with daily operating needs of the office.  Foster a ‘can do' reputation where people will want to come to you for assistance and input.  Provide leadership to office staff on all intra-departmental communications, empowering and encouraging staff to present resolutions to daily opportunities; discourage "delegating up" inter-intra departmental issues by mentoring staff in problem solving techniques and instituting long term solutions that work for both accounting and supported departments.  Lead weekly office meetings and review all scheduling of office staff. Establish and monitor quantifiable goals for all staff within the office, incorporating goal-based standards that include the primary overall goals of the property.  Ensure defined individual goals are incorporated in all performance evaluations of accounting department staff.  Closely monitor daily performance of tasks against priorities assigned and direct staff in time and task management according to the prescribed priorities.  

Functional duties include production of timely & accurate financial reports (monthly, weekly, and daily), maintaining all reconciliation (blank, balance sheet, and necessary p & l accounts), costs of sales and payroll, and insure that year-end audit goals for internal controls and owner mandated procedures be adhered to.  Oversee monthly closing process, prepare standard and adjusting month end journal entries and review all entries from all sources.  Responsible for issuing both preliminary and final monthly financial reports.  Work with Purchasing, Rooms, F & B, Golf, Spa, and Retail to track and report on inventory levels, usage.  Act as signatory on operating accounts in the absence of the Director of Finance, and assist with managing of daily cash movement when required.  Assist with annual budgets and periodic forecasts.  Assist with all capital tracking and forecasting. Have strong computer skills. 

The Controller will also periodically monitor the purchasing and receiving functions, and assist with the taking of inventories, primarily with monthly food and beverage, but also in all other inventories such as retail.

Retail Manager

The Retail Manager will lead the retail department ensuring that the strategic and financial objectives are met or exceeded.  Responsible for maintaining the vision and brand management of the three (3) retail outlets on the property: Resort Shop, Hacienda and Spa Boutique.  Manage the departments buying and merchandising in a creative manner.  Maintain good relationships with key/preferred vendors. Able to seek new retail revenue channels.  Provide business plans to Managing Director for any new retail ventures. Responsible for all Retail associates.  Oversee all hiring, training, coaching, and disciplining of staff.  Manage the selling, on-floor coaching, staff scheduling, preparation and delivery of associate evaluations, approving all monthly incentive information to accounting. Fully engage in all planning, preparation and execution of trunk shows and product knowledge sessions. Attend trade shows and complete business trips to further the business. Regularly lead departmental meetings and keep close communications with Assistant Retail Manager.

Acts as a role model for associates in demonstrating the highest level of guest service and ensuring the consistent application of Five Diamond standards and professional presentation.  Keep Managing Director  informed at all times regarding general department operations and/or challenges. Promptly replies to guest and staffs inquiries, issues and complaints. Analyzes staff levels, oversees inventory control and shrinkage. Ensures all merchandise is accurately received and properly priced, recorded and handled.  Oversees monthly physical inventory in the Hacienda Shop, Spa Boutique, Resort Shop and all display windows. 

Assistant Banquet Manager

The Assistant Banquet MAnager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of all Banquet functions including but not limited to large corporate events, weddings, social, off-site catering and small group functions.  This individual provides leadership to a team of captains, servers, bartenders and housemen, and works in tandem with the Catering and Culinary departments to ensure complete guest satisfaction for each event.  Excellent guest contact skills and employee leadership practices, creativity, attention to detail, integrity and strong work ethic are absolute musts for this position.   Responsible for all aspects of guest service and satisfaction.  Coaches and counsels employees and provides feedback to improve performance.  Minimum three years experience as a Banquet Manager in a 5 diamond resort environment.

They will direct and supervise the work of the employees in the Group Dining Department. Interview, hire, train, motivate, coaching performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing and resolving guest complaints. Schedule all employees to maintain the high service standards of Ojai Valley Inn & Spa while operating within budgeted labor cost guidelines. Develop and maintain all training programs on a continuous basis to insure a high degree of professionalism within the staff. Ensure proper care, security and maintenance of hotel equipment through proper supervision of service personnel. Maintain a housekeeping program to include storage, operational areas, and staff appearance. Coordinate and insure the needs of the Catering & Conference Service s departments with the managers of interrelated departments. Prepare the payroll and gratuity reports as required. Organize and coordinate any last minute changes or details to functions. Post all contracted function sheets and give instructions to Assistants, Captains, or staff to insure the success of the function. Directly oversee the actual set-up and service of contracted functions by giving specific menu information to the servers, by coordinating the timing of the dinner with the Executive Group Dining Chef and by assigning functions to the Captains. Use time management techniques to prioritize multiple projects and assignments, meet deadlines.
