Please join us to be a part of an incredible demonstration of candy making by Chris and Rachel Grassi, co-owner of the company. Papabubble is recognized as one of the premier confectioners in the world, with gourmet candy making artisans located throughout the world (New York City, Lisbon, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Taipei and Tokyo). This Arts & Leisure event will include the designing of various candies. Tea, coffee and our chocolate bar will be prepared by our own pastry chef, Salvatore Martone.
Julie, Julia & Jamie

The movie Julie & Julia reminds us of the art of French cooking. Here is your opportunity to meet the author Julie Powell and participate in a cooking demonstration of some of Julia Child’s recipes with our Chef, Jamie West. As many of you know, Chef West had the delight and honor of cooking for Julia Child on numerous occasions in his previous restaurant. This special event has strictly limited seating and includes the following:
Saturday, 2-3 pm: Interactive cooking demonstration in the Herb Garden. Ms. Powell will assist our executive chef Jamie West in preparing one of Julia Child’s delectable dishes.
Saturday, 6-9:30 pm: Julia Child-inspired dinner prepared by Chef Jamie West, featuring some recipes from Child’s legendary book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Ms. Powell will be on hand to discuss each course, and sign her book, Julie & Julia, for attending guests.
Saturday, 10 pm: To complete and enhance the evening, come to a private screening of Julie & Julia in the Neff Lounge and enjoy our tempting dessert bar.
Sunday morning: Enjoy breakfast buffet at the Inn prior to your departure.
All guests will receive a signed copy of Julie Powell’s critically acclaimed book, Julie & Julia.
**For this special event only, our customary two-night weekend stay is waived.
**Also, for double-occupancy guests bringing their significant other who do not wish to participate in the Saturday afternoon cooking demonstration, a complimentary round of golf is included during that time.

Spend two days creating your own small pieces of jewelry, such as a talisman, a small spoon or a pinby, by forming the clay, firing it, then polishing and finishing the surface to reveal a fabulous piece of jewelry art piece. The Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, Arts and Leisure Masterworks Series presents an afternoon with Harney & Sons to discuss how to develop your tea palate and an insider’s view on the history and growth of Tea in the United States. Michael Harney, son of the founder of Harney & Sons Teas has just written the book, “The Harney and Sons Guide to Tea”, which is unique in candor, scope and accessibility, with the intent that this will become the classic reference and staple in the library of all tea drinkers. An Afternoon with World Renowned Surfer Shaun Tomson

Professional surfer, former world champion, environmentalist, actor and businessman Shaun Tomson comes to the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa on August 18th from 3-5pm to share his life’s work with all who strive to maintain a positive, balanced attitude and extend the limits of one’s own personal standards. Shaun learned to surf in the beaches around Durban South Africa. In 1975 Shaun was an integral part of the “Free Ride” generation. Along with other international surfing celebrities, he rode the waves of Oahu’s legendary north shore with style, aggression and raw courage previously unseen. Tomson won the coveted IPS World Championship in 1977. Tomson thoroughly changed the way the tube of the wave was ridden, using a unique style of pumping and weaving through and around collapsing sections of the barrel.

The Arts and Leisure Masterwork series, which this summer celebrates teens, is pleased to present world renowned artistic prodigy Akiane Kramarik. Akiane is primarily a self-taught painter who takes her inspiration from her visions of heaven and her personal connection with God. She is an inspirational Teenager, who has an amazing story to tell having started painting incredible canvases and reciting insightful poetry from the age of 4. She has been featured in numerous international television, radio shows, and documentaries including the Oprah Winfrey Show and CNN and was inducted into the Kids Hall of Fame.

An interactive floral design demonstration by Jun Pinon, one of San Francisco’s most celebrated and exciting lifestyle designers, followed by high tea and champagne. Mr. Pinon’s designs range from austere to playful and his presentations and live demonstrations help would-be floral designers break through to higher levels.

Renate Collins, Artist in Residence at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, has created a one of a kind experience. She has garnered a wealth of artistic vision through travel, education and experience. Her inspirations come from nature, listening within and exchanging creative ideas.
This program leads you through the journey of personal discovery. It reveals the thread that weaves through the inner world of memories and lessons encountered that often identity the purpose and direction of one's life. The project takes the form of a book, a box of treasures or even a sculpture.
The journey begins with a creation of a "Personal Mandala" a 'signature' within our Cottage and resolves with your own creation of a personal scent through the guidance of "custom blending".
